From Pearl to Curve

I've had my BlackBerry Pearl for about two years now. The previous phone I used before my BlackBerry Pearl was the Razr. I was totally amazed with all that the Pearl could do compared to the Razr, but months later I started wanting more from the phone. The standard internet browser on the Pearl is horrible beyond belief. The phone is often laggy and freezes numerous times a day. The thing that bothers me the most about the phone is that it actually can not receive some text messages! The phone will vibrate as if you have a new text message, but wont actually show the message. The only way I've found out how to cope with this issue is to take the battery out and let the phone reboot.

I'm the type of guy who loves mostly everything about Apple. With that said, I wont be upgrading to the iPhone for a few reasons. The first reason is that it would take $200 per phone to start on at&t. Secondly, at&t overall sucks. T-mobile I think has served my needs better than at&t in the past. Also, I bet Apple will end up launching a new iPhone in the coming months, and I hate to be one generation back on technology.

The phone I will be switching to is known as the BlackBerry Curve 8520. It is known to be the entry level Curve that will take the place of the 8300 series. I was not too impressed with the phone at first glance, but I now think that its a pretty sleek looking phone. They've used more plastic and rubber on the phone, giving it a more blacked out look. Another big difference with this phone is that they've removed the trackball, replacing it with an optical pad. Even though this phone is considered the entry level model for the Curve, I know it will preform a lot better than my BlackBerry Pearl 8100. The only thing as of now that concerns me is the plastic back panel on the phone. On my current Pearl, that panel  soaked up a lot of scratches, so I'm not sure if the same thing will happen with the Curve. One way to go about fixing this is to just get a case for it.

The phone should be getting dropped off at my house via UPS sometime today, so I'll make sure to post the unboxing video!
